Anti-Bullying Week & Safer Internet Day 2020

For the week beginning 10th February, St Edmund's took part in Anti-Bullying Week and Safer Internet Day.

All of our classes in EYFS, KS1 and KS2 spent time completing activities to show an awareness of
Anti-Bullying, and how to be safe online.

On Tuesday 11th February (Safer Internet Day), everyone wore odd socks to school to show that:
It is ok to be different.

EYFS

In Nursery and Reception, they have talked about being kind. When they all came to school with odd socks on, they talked about how we are all different and unique.

For Safer Internet Day, they listened to the story of 'Chicken Clicking' in class.  The children gave some opinions about what Chicken had been doing and listened carefully to how we can keep ourselves safe online

KS1

Year 1/2 watched Zap and Zoom go online and learned about being Safe Online. They discussed how to stay safe with 'Thumbs up' and 'Thumbs down'.

They enjoyed wearing Odd socks and celebrating how it's great to be ourselves!

Lower KS2

Year 3/4 created a 'Jar of Changes' which contains small, simple ways we can change our behaviour to improve other people's feelings and emotions. Why not try smiling at someone today? Or giving them a compliment. They will feel better, and so will you.

We completed activities from SaferInternet.org which helped us to think carefully about how we can protect our identity online.

Upper KS2

Year 5/6 had some fantastic discussions about how to make St Edmund's a lovely place for everyone to come to school, and how we can #makeachange.

We shared advice and suggestions about how we should behave towards others online, and who to talk to if we are worried about anything.
