St Edmund's RC Primary School

School Uniform

We take great pride in our children and our school. This is reflected in our school uniform. It is our school policy that all children wear school uniform when attending school, or when participating in school-organised events outside normal school hours.  All school uniform and P.E. kit MUST have name labels in.

The Role of Parents

It is the responsibility of parents and carers is to ensure that their child has the correct uniform and PE kit, and that it is clean, in good repair and that the child’s name is written on all items. As parents and carers who have chosen to send their children to St Edmund’s, we expect our school community to adhere to our policies.

If a parent or carer has difficulties for any reason with ensuring correct uniform, they must contact school immediately to review whether help can be given by school. Parents should be assured that we will do all we can to help.

Children who arrive at school not wearing the correct school uniform (including PE kits) will be sent a text informing them that their child’s uniform is incorrect. We expect correct uniform the following day. If you are unable to ensure correct uniform, you should contact school immediately. If you require your child to wear any items not in line with uniform policy, you must have supporting medical evidence otherwise children must be in correct uniform.

Jewellery, Hair Styling, Make-up and Nail Varnish

For health and safety reasons we do not allow children to wear jewellery. The exceptions to this rule are small ear-ring studs in pierced ears and suitable watches.

Extreme hairstyles are not appropriate for school;

  • The use of styling products should be kept to a minimum
  • Children should not have excessive decorative patterns cut into their hair
  • Fluorescent hair dye should not be used

Make up and nail varnish should not be worn to school.
