On Thursday 21st September, St Edmund's joined many, many people around the world in celebrating Peace Day 2017.
Peace Day is the one day in the year when all countries have agreed to suspend any hostilities and celebrate peace in our world.
To celebrate Peace Day, we invited children from other schools to help us enjoy the day.
St Ambrose Barlow RC High School sent representatives along with Christ the King and St Charles RC Primary School.
Al pupils had a wonderful day.
During the course of the day, the children took part in the Great St Edmund's Bake Off and helped revitalise our Peace Garden with a Peace Rocks activity.
Have a look at some of the photos below!
All the children in the school decorated a stone with a message of home or a personal design to represent peace in our time.
The rocks will be varnished and kept in the St Edmund's Peace Garden for future classes to see and enjoy in the future.
The visiting schools created a rock too to be displayed. They also used a larger rock to share a message of Peace from their school to be displayed in the garden.
Cakes can be made of ingredients found all over the world. We used the cakes to symbolise collaboration between nations on this special day.
Each class was given a selection of toppings, icings and decorations to create their own designs to be entered into our special bake off.
At the end of the day, we came together for the cakes to be judged.
The winning year group who were judged to have created the best designs were the wonderful children from Year 1/2!
Congratulations to them and I hope they enjoy their extra playtime this week!
